Walls take a beating in South Florida.
Furniture corners, doorknobs, moving day, a leaking AC line, a window that let the rain in. Drywall gets damaged in all kinds of ways, and the damage looks worse than it is. Ben Sasson has patched walls and ceilings in Hallandale Beach for more than 26 years. The goal on every repair is the same: once the paint is dry, you should not be able to point to where the hole was.
The work starts small, a few nail and screw holes behind a picture frame, and goes up to fist-sized punch-throughs, sections cut out after a plumbing leak, and walls opened up during a renovation. You get one person who looks at it, decides whether it needs a patch or a replaced section, matches the texture and leaves the surface primed and ready for paint.
If the wall needs color afterward, Ben can handle that too. See our painting services page, or just ask for it in the same estimate so the patch and the paint are done as one job.
Signs your drywall needs repair
- Cracks running off a door or window cornerUsually settling or a joint tape that let go. Filling over it tends to crack again. Cutting it back and re-taping holds better.
- Soft, stained or bubbling drywallThat is moisture. The wall can be fixed, but the leak has to be stopped first. If you are not sure where the water is coming from, say so when you call.
- Nail pops and tape lines showing through paintFasteners that backed out or seams that were never finished well. Both show up in side light and get worse over time.
- Holes from doorknobs, anchors and old mountsA hole the size of your fist is easy to see. The small ones add up too, especially after a TV or shelf comes down.
- Dented or rusted corner beadOutside corners get hit by vacuums and furniture. Once the metal bead is bent, the corner will not look straight no matter how much paint goes on it.
- Walls opened for plumbing, electrical or AC workAfter another trade closes up their work, somebody has to close up the wall. That is a drywall job, and it needs to be finished properly, not just covered.
How Ben repairs a wall
Look and test
Ben presses on the wall, checks for moisture and decides whether it needs a small patch or a replaced section. You get the plan and the quote before any work starts.
Cut back to solid board
Loose, crumbling or wet drywall comes out. The patch has to sit on something sound or it will crack along the edge.
Fit and tape the patch
New board goes in, with backing where the hole needs it. Seams are taped so the patch is tied into the wall around it.
Mud, sand, repeat
Joint compound goes on in thin coats and is sanded between them. Each coat has to dry, which is why a hole is rarely a one-hour job.
Match the texture
Smooth, orange peel, knockdown, or whatever your wall has. Ben tests the texture on the patch so you can see it before the final coat.
Prime and hand it over
The repair is primed so it does not flash through your paint, then cleaned up and shown to you. Paint can follow the same week.
What to expect on the day
A small repair, a few holes or one crack, can often be finished in a visit or two. Larger patches and water damage repairs take longer because the joint compound has to dry between coats. Ben tells you the schedule when he gives you the estimate, so you are not guessing.
Sanding makes dust. Ben covers floors and furniture around the work and cleans up when he is done. If you have a room full of belongings or a tight space, mention it on the call so he can plan around it.
You can text photos of the damage to (954) 282-1244 to get the conversation started. For anything involving water, Ben prefers to see it in person. Estimates are free and you hear back within 24 hours.

Drywall Repair questions, answered.
How much does drywall repair cost in Hallandale Beach?
It depends on the size of the damage, how many coats it needs, the texture and whether you want paint included. Ben does not quote blind. Send photos by text or have him look at it, and you get a free, upfront estimate before any work starts.
Can you match my wall texture?
Yes. Ben matches smooth, orange peel, knockdown and other common finishes, and tests the texture on the patch so you can see it before it is final. Walls that have been painted many times are the hardest to match, so it is worth looking at the sample together.
Do you repair water-damaged drywall?
Yes, once the source of the leak is fixed. Wet or soft drywall is cut out, replaced and finished. If the leak is still active, it needs a plumber or roofer first, otherwise the new wall will fail the same way.
How long does a drywall repair take?
Small holes can usually be done in a visit or two. Bigger patches and water damage take longer because each coat of compound has to dry before it is sanded. Ben gives you the schedule with the estimate.
Do you paint after the repair?
Yes. The repair is primed so it is paint-ready, and Ben can paint the wall or the whole room so the color matches. Ask for it in the same estimate.
